Up to $97,217 annually
As the Director of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services you will oversee, direct and manage the administrative and program functions of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division of the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). This position oversees a budget of $6.7 million and a division of approximately 47 staff located in St. Paul and in six regional offices across the state.

At a minimum, a candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in a job-related field reflecting high academic success.
- Two years of experience as an advanced-level supervisor or one year as a manager of a sizable, multi-faceted organization providing a variety of services to a deaf and hard of hearing clientele.
- Three additional years of experience in the delivery of direct human services to deaf and hard of hearing people of all ages.
- Comprehensive knowledge of human service delivery and management systems; including the regulatory aspects of state and federal policies related to children, adults and families who are both deaf/hard of hearing and/or dually disabled by developmental disability, mental illness, blindness, chemical dependency or other physical limitations.
- Experience working with upper and middle management, professionals, para-professionals and community leaders on deaf services issues.
- Excellent written English and intermediate sign language skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships needed to accomplish the goals of the division.
- Understanding of effective supervision and employee development strategies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the deaf/deaf-blind, and hard of hearing communities.
- Knowledge of planning, policy-making, budgeting, evaluation, information systems utilization, and participatory management processes.
